The situationwas terrific and people thought itwould be the end of this world and many apocalyptic and post –apocalyptic literatures were written based on this catastrophe. The flood narratives ofthe1924 flood of Kerala, directly deal with events that kindle apocalyptic memories. The flood narratives of Malayalam writers such as Kovilan’s Thottanghal, Kakkanadan Orotha, Thakazhi’s Vellappokatthil,Vaikom Muhammed Basheer’s “Oru valiya Karinthol”, Puthenkavu Mathan Tharakan’s Ormakalude Naatil and Cherukad’s Jeevitapaatha bestow the real aura of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic narratives on the 1924 flood in Kerala.
