Abstract : The present invention provides an adaptive energy management system and method for real-time landslide detection. The invention discloses a system and method of prioritising the activation of sensors in each of the deep earth probe based on the meteorological, hydrological and soil parameters, and selects appropriate sampling rate for each of the sensors 10 for handling different events with respect to their priority and the need of the moment. It employs a wireless sensor network consisting of an intelligent wireless probe (IWP) attached to sensors thereby configuring each sensor node to monitor one specific environmental parameters in a particular order based on the reaching of the threshold of the previous 15 parameter. The information from the sensors is collected through the data acquisition board and sent to the base station for sophisticated analysis of information to provide landslide warnings and risk assessments to the inhabitants.
