Abstract : Dyslexia is defined as an anomalous approach to processing information ,learning disability that impairs a person's fluency or which can manifest itself as a difficulty with phonological awareness, phonological decoding, processing speed, orthographic coding, auditory short-term memory, language skills/verbal comprehension.1 Dyslexia, which includes a number of disorders, affecting people's ability to read, is believed to affect 4 to 5 percent of the population, or some 12 million Americans. The new discovery for treating dyslexia, by the use of color filters in reading could lead to methods of detecting dyslexia in infancy, and treatments could begin in very early childhood when the brain's circuitry is most capable of changing. The possibility that reading disability in children is associated with visual problems is in dispute.2 Dyslexia is distinct from reading difficulties resulting from other causes, such as a non-neurological deficiency with vision or hearing, or from poor or inadequate reading instruction.15 The present study is to find out the various factors responsible for the development of dyslexia and also its clinical characteristics.
