Abstract : The paper comprises of the investigation, modeling and study of DC-DC full bridge phase shifted converter topology and isolated buck-boost converter topology. It also presents an idea to control output voltage when power supply is fed through a high frequency transformer whose AC output has been converted into DC using diode rectifier i.e., High frequency resonant transistor DC-DC converter. Comparison has been made between both types of DC-DC converters. The DC-DC full bridge phase shifted converters have more benefits over High frequency resonant DC-DC converter such as less EMI, less stress, lower switching losses and large efficiency at larger operating frequencies. The comparative analysis has been done with respect to the simulation and their applications. To avoid any chances of power surges, a transformer is connected in both of the converter topologies for isolation. A PI Controller is used to provide closed loop operation and it aids in generating pulses in order to feed the inverter switches (MOSFETs& IGBTs) in both the converter circuits. Simulation analysis have been done for both the topologies i.e., for DC-DC full bridge phase shifted converters and high frequency resonant DC-DC converters. It is studied that the full bridge phase shifted converters are more reliable and have higher efficiencies at higher operating frequencies and lower switching losses when compared to the other DC-DC topology. The performance analysis of both converters is done using MATLAB / Simulink software.
