Abstract : In every field of human development, electricity usage is increasing promptly. Utilization of solar energy is a way to meet the energy demand. The solar inverter is one such device, which makes the solar energy to usable form. In this paper, three major classifications of inverters are presented. The voltage source and current source inverters, stand-alone and grid-connected inverters and, square, modified square and sine wave inverters come under the classification. An open loop strategy is considered for the MATLAB Simulation of the three main types of PWM inverters available in the market. A brief description of PV array, charge controller and battery is also presented in this paper.
