Abstract : The curious amalgam of the lack of a legal binding mechanism, existence of non-substantive pledges, absence of generous attitude, deep divisions between developed and developing countries, undermining human rights, and less emphasis on farmers' issues brings the Paris Summit to a very risky position on climate change policy. The Paris accord may turn out to be a diplomatic triumph but a scientific failure. © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
