Dr T. K. Sindhu, Associate Professor in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of the School of Engineering at Coimbatore was selected to receive the Young Engineers Award from the Institution of Engineers of India (IEI). Sometime early next year, she will travel to Raipur to participate in the National Convention of Electrical Engineers, where she will be given the award.
IEI, with a current membership of six lakh engineers, is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers in India. Its members come from fifteen different engineering disciplines, including computer, electronics, electrical, mechanical, aerospace, chemical, and civil. Nearly 100 chapters are active across the country and a few overseas, as well.
Every year, IEI selects individuals who have excelled in engineering research and technology development and transfer for these Young Engineer Awards. Many author the best papers published in their journals. “We are indeed honored that one of our faculty members was chosen for this award,” said Dr. T. N. P. Nambiar, Chairperson of the EEE Department. “We hope that in the coming years many others will also receive this honor.”
