Based on data obtained from Amrita’s IoT-based LEWS (Landslide Early Warning System) deployed in Munnar, we are issuing a regional first-level warning for potential soil layer slips and landslides in the Munnar area of Idukki district.
This warning has been officially communicated to theKerala State Disaster Management Authority, as well as the Sub-Collector and the District Collector of Idukki.
We strongly urge residents, visitors, and authorities in the affected areas to take immediate precautions and follow the instructions provided by the authorities.
The current data indicates an elevated risk of soil layer slips and landslides due to the prevailing environmental conditions. These natural events can occur with little to no warning, posing significant risks to life, property, and infrastructure.
