Amrita School of Ayurveda in association with Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda (ĀCĀRA) conducted a one day workshop on PubMed Search and Reference Management for the PG and PhD Scholars on 29th March 2016. The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Vasumati Sriganesh, QMed Knowledge Foundation, Mumbai. QMed Knowledge Foundation, through the effective use of Information Technology, empowers medical information users to retrieve evidence based information, evaluate the same for local applicability and help improve health outcomes.
Mrs. Vasumati was working as a medical librarian and observed that the professionals were unable to adequately exploit the new information resources. As she began helping doctors and other health professionals, and receiving good feedback for the same, she was inspired to reach out to a larger group. QMed identified the need to train health science students and professionals to search medical literature from various online databases and cite it correctly. Since its inception in 2007 QMed has delivered over 175 lectures and conducted around 130 workshops in medical institutions across India, reaching out to around 11000+ health science students and professionals.
