The Symposium on Dissolution Science and Application was held on 25th January 2025 at Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi. The event was organized in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Kerala State Branch, All India Pharmaceutical Associations Consortium (AIPAC), and Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS).
The symposium was inaugurated by Dr. Sabitha M, Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy, who highlighted the importance of dissolution studies in pharmaceutical research and their critical role in drug development. The program featured insightful sessions by eminent speakers. Dr. Pankaj Mandpe, Senior Vice President, Micro Labs Limited, Mumbai, presented on “Dissolution Science and Applications of USP 1, 2, and 3,” providing a comprehensive overview of conventional dissolution testing methodologies. Following this, Mr. Samir Haddouchi, Managing Director of SOTAX Pharma Services, France, delivered an engaging lecture on advanced methodologies in dissolution science and their application in modern pharmaceutical formulations.
A key highlight of the symposium was the live demonstration of the USP Type IV Dissolution Apparatus by Mr. Suhas Yawle, Associate Director, Techno Commercial, SOTAX India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. The demonstration provided attendees with practical insights into the apparatus’s applications for complex formulations, such as poorly soluble drugs and modified-release systems. The instrument was made available at the college for three days, offering students and faculty a unique opportunity for hands-on experience and sample analysis. The symposium served as an exceptional platform for academia-industry collaboration, equipping attendees with a deeper understanding of advanced dissolution techniques and their significance in pharmaceutical sciences. Approximately 120 participants, including students of final-year B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Ph.D. scholars, and faculty members, attended the event.
