The Department of Cardiology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) organized a Symposium on Aortic Aneurysm on June 28, 2014. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Prathapan Nair, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine. Others who spoke during the inaugural ceremony included Drs. Sanjeev K. Singh, Medical Superintendent, AIMS; S. K. Ramachandran, Deputy Medical Superintendent, AIMS; K. U. Natarajan, Professor and Head, Department of Cardiology, AIMS.
The symposium discussed and demonstrated the various treatment aspects of aortic aneurysm such as Endovascular Stenting, Hybrid Procedures and Chimney Technique. National and international experts also participated and delivered talks at the symposium including Drs. Ashishkumar M., Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, Calicut; Sanjay Mehrotra, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore; George Joseph, Professor of Cardiology, Christian Medical College, Vellore; Sriram Narayanan, Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore; Manoj P., Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Aster Medcity, Kochi.
Amrita faculty who led the sessions include Drs. Rajesh Kannan, Associate Professor of Radiology; Shiv Kumar Nair, Professor and Head, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery; Rajiv C. and M. Vijayakumar, Professors at the Department of Cardiology; Dinesh Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, Gastrointestinal Surgery.
