Over sixty alumni from the Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru came together at their alma mater for the first alumni meet on August 2, 2014. The meet was attended by alumni working at esteemed positions in companies such as: Cisco Systems Inc. Nokia, SAP Labs India Private Limited, HCL Technologies, Mu Sigma Inc., Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Altran Sud Ouest, MISTRAL Solutions, Moody’s Investors Service, UTC India, Tessolve, ActOn Magic, Connex, Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., Wipro, Alcatel-Lucent, 3DPLM Software Solutions Limited. A student pursuing his Masters’ degree from Chalmers University of Technology, University in Gothenburg, Sweden attended as well.
The day also witnessed the inauguration of the Bangalore Chapter of the Alumni Association.
Present on the occasion were Br. Dhanraj Swamiji, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Bengaluru campus Director; Dr. Rakesh S. G., Associate Dean, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru campus, Alumni Association Chair and Assistant Professor of Department of Computer Science & Engineering Supriya M. The meet also witnessed the presence of our alumni connected through Skype. Additionally, chairmen and heads of various departments, faculty members and staff gathered for the program.
Supriya M. welcomed the gathering. Br. Dhanraj Swamiji stressed the importance of humility in one’s life. Dr. Rakesh S. G. apprised the alumni of the progress, changes and extensions in the domain of academic disciplines, co-curricular and extra-curricular, student exchange programs with universities abroad, etc. He also took this opportunity to invite all the alumni of the school for the meets in the forth coming years. He added that an alumni meet is planned to be held on first Saturday of August every year.
A panel discussion on the topic IT Boom- Growing Pressure on the Stakeholders was included during the alumni meet. Among the alumni who actively participated in this public exchange of ideas were Thejas Gupta, Navdeep, Bharath Hebbar, Nayanar Dikshit, Sriram and Vinela. The discussion was moderated by Mr. A D. Balakrishnan of the CIR department.
There were cultural performances including dance and music by the current students of the school. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pramod R., B. Tech. program Academic Coordinator, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru.
“It was a good experience to get an opportunity to attend the meet. The panel session on IT boom was attractive. Happy to have met a few of my classmates, as well as teachers with whom we are close to,” enthusedAshish Sebastian, presently working in HCL Technologies, graduated in 2011 with an M. Tech. Degree in Embedded Systems.
“Coming back to the place that made me who I am after three years is putting me in perspective that life moves on, but the four years of college gives us learning for life. Friendships that last forever were formed in those four years. Amrita has been etched in my life with a bond that is for life,” proudly shared Deekshit Nayanar, presently working in Nokia, graduated in 2011 with a B. Tech. Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
