A lecture demonstration, under the aegis of SPICMACAY, was held in the college auditorium of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, on September 21, 2017.

The artists were formally welcomed by Dr. U. Krishnakumar. The students and the members of the Faculty sat spellbound as Vidushi Dr. Kamala Shankar performed on the Shankar Guitar, an instrument which the artist herself has invented. She gained world acclaim for successfully converting the Western Hawaiian Guitar into the Shankar Guitar which has overtones of the Eastern Veena. A prodigy of Indian music and a recipient of many awards she mesmerized her audience with her skill. She was accompanied by her student, Sri. Nirmal Saini, a research scholar, on the Hawaiian Guitar and by Sri. Nisar Ahammad, the renowned tabla artist, who has recently released his first solo album. The artists were presented with mementos. Sri. Pragil Prakash, Vice-president, SPICMACAY, coordinated the program. The event concluded with the Shanti mantra.
