The Forum of Aspiring Computer Engineers (FACE), from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus, organized a 24-hour Hackathon event, SLAC, sponsored by Honeywell Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., on August 1, 2019.
The event aimed at providing a platform for the undergraduate student community to gather, collaborate and develop effective solutions to common real-world challenges, and hosted 47 teams each with a maximum of 4 participants. 173 undergraduate students from Bengaluru, Amritapuri and Coimbatore campuses of the Amrita actively participated in the hackathon.
The exclusive sponsor, Honeywell Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd., conducted a brief presentation about their company profile and their contributions to the industry, after the inauguration at 9 AM. The Chief Guests for the event were Mr. Sreeji Kumar (Senior Director HTS Global Engineering and Technology) and Ms. Meena Prasad (University Relations Manager at Honeywell).
The Hackathon officially came to an end on August 2, 11 AM, and the top ten teams were announced in an hour. The teams presented their models. And the winners were announced shortly after. Rahul N. Kamath, Nivetha Saravanan and Srikanth Srivenkata from the seventh-semester of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus, bagged the first prize of Rs 60,000. The second, third and the consolation prizes of Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000, were bagged by the fifth-semester students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.
