Mr. Thiruvengadam Parthasarathi, former Senior Director of Deloitte India, visited Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, and presented a session on the topic, ‘Management Consultancy’.
In the session, Mr. Parthasarathi provided insights into the profession of a management consultant, its key functionalities, and dimensions. According to him, the need for consulting comes as a prerequisite prior to decision-making in day-to-day business. He presented an in-depth analysis of what consulting assignments can accomplish. He also delineated how an effective consulting is performed.
A professional consulting assesses the organizational performance/effectiveness and identifies the barriers to improvements. “A consultant contributes to the total health of the organization, although the immediate assignment may be limited,” Mr. Parthasarathi pointed out.
The speaker ended the session with a message to the students, especially to those who dream of a career in consulting. “To become a successful consultant, he/she needs to have passion for the profession. Beyond a thorough knowledge in the areas, he/she should have innovative ideas,” he said.
With his decades of experience in the niche area of strategic cost management, Mr. Parthasarathi also provided an overview of the topic. He focused on different aspects of cost management, leading to an end-result of greater efficiency and less cost.
