“Reconnect with Amrita” Series 2, the Alumni meet of Amrita School of Dentistry (ASD), was organized at the Mini Auditorium of Amrita School of Dentistry (ASD). It was the second event in this series and was dedicated to all the Champions of ASD – past and present. The theme of the 2nd Reconnect series was “INTERACTION WITH THE CHAMPIONS OF 2019”. Alumni members who came out with flying colors in the recently conducted NEET PG Examination interacted with the present batches of students at the Dental School.
40 alumni members attended the program along with all the faculty members, non-teaching staff, interns and students of Amrita School of Dentistry.
Registration started at 2.00 PM on the third floor and alumni were provided with Reconnect Badges.
The meeting commenced at 2.30 PM with prayer by Dr. Akhila (Alumnus BDS and MDS) followed by Pooja by Chitharanjan Achan.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Balagopal Varma, Principal ASD followed by felicitation by Dr. Rakesh. S, Vice Principal ASD.
Faculty representative Dr. Arun Mammachan shared his feelings and experiences about the Reconnect program with the alumni.
Dr. Vignesh and Dr. Sreeja (2012 batch alumni ASD) who secured 107th and 274th ranks respectively in the All India NEET examination 2018 interacted with the students. They motivated the present batches of students and underlined the importance of being alumni of Amrita, and how much it helped them once they finished their course and went on for higher study preparation and clinical practice.
Dr. Rijin Raj (2010 Batch alumnus ASD) who secured 173rd rank in the NEET examination also conveyed his motivational and inspirational message to the students of ASD through an e-mail.
The students of ASD who bought laurels to the institution in the last 3 months were appreciated and felicitated boosting the morale of whole alumni and students. Most notable among them were Captain (Dr). Shraddha Sunil (2012 batch Alumnus) who recently got commissioned into the Army Dental Cops at the Jharkand cantonment and Shankar S Menon (currently III year BDS), who won the Taluk, District and Zonal level of the Intercollegiate Debate Competition and went on to win a consolation prize at the State level competition recently.
Dr. Vishak Suku (2007 batch BDS and 2013 batch MDS alumnus) who underwent a fellowship program on Oro-facial Pain, TMD and Obstructive sleep apnoea by SMILE USA and is currently running his own private practice also shared his experiences with the students, stressing on how the education at ASD helped him evolve as a better clinician, way above the rest of his peers from other Institutions.
The meeting ended at 4.00 pm which was followed by light refreshments.
