Amrita Centre for Allied Health Sciences organized a one-day Research Workshop on the theme “Thesis to Manuscript” as a part of its research workshop series “QUEST”. It was organized by the Amrita Centre for Allied Health Sciences on July 8, 2022 at Amriteswari Hall, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi.
The workshop was designed for the final year undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students to enable them to master the different aspects of research methodology and to make them understand the process of turning a thesis into a publishable manuscript.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Col Vishal Marwaha, Principal, School of Medicine in the presence of M V Thampi, Chief Program Administrator, and Prof. Lakshmi Kumar, Clinical Professor, and Head, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
The workshop started with a presentation by Dr. Merlin Moni, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine on the selection of research topics and developing research questions. Dr. Saumy Johnson, Associate Professor, Division of Respiratory Therapy threw light on different processes involved in the review of the literature including the reference management software. Dr. Manu Raj, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics & Senior Consultant in Health Research discussed various research designs, highlighting various examples for each of them. Ms. Renjitha Bhaskaran, Lecturer, Department of Biostatistics gave an overview of the different statistical tests used in the research process. Participants were also given details of manuscript preparation and the workshop ended with a group activity on Journal Critique, wherein each group lead presented the summary of their critique.
