A program on traffic awareness was conducted by Heritage Honda, Hinakal circle, Mysuru, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, on February 8-10, 2017. With an increase in incidents in which many people are losing their lives, it is important to teach basic traffic rules and motivate the younger generation to follow traffic rules.
Heritage Honda is a two-wheeler showroom which used their two-wheelers to demonstrate some basic traffic rules to over 500 students for three days, batch by batch. A demo was shown how to use protective gear like helmets, gloves, knee pads, etc., that can protect from injuries during an accident. Some entertaining competitions like slow bike race, debate and skit were also conducted as part of the event.
The students actively participated in the debate and their comments helped the audience to understand the importance of traffic rules and their implementation in daily life. The skit competition which followed was scripted and enacted by students who won the first two rounds. The skit was to demonstrate the hazardous effects of violating traffic rules. Many groups from different academic programmes participated and students enjoyed presenting their acting skills to make people learn some traffic sense.
The winners were given a trophy at the end of the programme. All participants were given a participation certificate to encourage their participation and interest in such events.
