Prof. Bhawana Jain, Assistant Professor, Amrita School of Business(ASB), Coimbatore participated in Summer School in Empirical Finance And Accounting Research organized by the Financial Research and Trading Laboratory of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM) Calcutta from May 1-9, 2015. This residential program was designed for Assistant and Associate Professors in the area of Finance and Accounting, and exposed the participants to 10 high-quality research papers published in top journals.
“The program was an eye-opener. It helped me better understand the art of writing a research paper. The program analyzed 10 research papers in detail, highlighting the motivation, research questions, hypotheses, methodology and results. It would benefit me in writing better papers in future. We were also exposed to various databases and software programs for research. We had an opportunity to work with faculty from all over the country,” said Prof. Bhawana.
Eminent speakers like Vikas Agarwal, Professor of Finance at Georgia State University, Sugata Ray, Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Florida, and Ashok Banerjee, Professor – Finance and Control, IIM Calcutta handled the sessions. Around 40 participants from various universities and B-Schools across India attended the program.
Conferred with a Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University, CA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and CPA from American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, USA, Prof. Bhawana currently pursues her Ph. D. at ASB. Prior to joining ASB in 2009, she had eight years of industry experience involving four years of practice as a Chartered Accountant, two years with Dhabriya Agglomerates Private Limited and two years with Cyber Media (India) Limited.
