A colloquium was held on 21st August, 2016, for the 1st year students of Management of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus. Ms.Meera Venkat, the President of Raise Global was the speaker. She has been awarded the “Business Excellence Award – 2016” by Future of India and CNBC and also “The Best Women Achiever Award” for the year 2013 by PRI. She is also the Chairman of ISTD, Bangalore Chapter and Executive Committee Member of NIQR.
Ms.Meera has 21 years of experience in both corporate and the start-up industry. At 28 years of age, she decided to quit her job as a Branch Manager in a prestigious company and try her hand with a start-up. According to Ms. Meera, an entrepreneur faces difficulties, but the key in overcoming these challenges is to never give up hope; to think out of the box and to believe in your intellect. She was kind enough to share her magic mantras comprising the five phases of decision making for a start-up.
A very down-to-earth and a pragmatic person, Ms.Meera is indeed a role model for aspiring entrepreneurs. She has a vision to open one start-up every year. She has always adhered to a lifelong motto of ‘failure is a stepping stone to success’. The session ended with a good round of Q&A and a selfie with the students.
