The documentary “Prathichaya” of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, was screened on the competition section of IDFFT 2019, an International Documentary film competition, conducted by the Media Studies Department of Thunchaththu Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, Tirur, Kerala, on September 18, 2019. The screening was in the presence of Shri. Sajid Naduthodi (Renowned Documentary Director) and Dr. Anil Vallathole (Vice-Chancellor, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University).
“Prathichaya” documentary film bagged first prize in the 12th International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from June 21-26, 2019. The film was an initiative project by the B. Sc. Visual Media 2016 batch of the campus. The documentary is all about the representation of similar aspects in shadow puppetry and films. It showcases a comparative study on “Tholppavakooth” (shadow puppetry) and Films. The elements like light, screen, shadows, art direction, and aspect ratio and so on are taken into consideration for this comparison.
