The first alumni meet of Amrita Center for Allied Health Sciences was held on May 18, 2019, at the Health Sciences Campus, Kochi. A total of one hundred and forty-eight alumni attended the meet (UG– 81, PG – 67). Several teachers were present also. Ms. Manasi Sathyan and Ms. Namita S.K., both belonging to BSc Respiratory Therapy of 2015 Batch, compered the program.
Shri. M. V. G. Thampi, Chief Program Administrator, welcomed the gathering. In his address Shri. Thampi briefly traced the growth of Allied Health Sciences in Amrita and appreciated how the vision of Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, has come true. In fact, he pointed out that the unique feature of Allied Health Science has grown up only in Amrita in India and not in any other places. Now, many hospitals in India are taking the benefit of the training that is imparted by Amrita to a large contingent of students. In fact, most of the leading hospitals in Kochi rely on our students of Allied Health Sciences for maintaining their vital services.
Sampoojya Swami Purnamritanandapuri blessed the entire gathering and exhorted the alumni to be more vigilant and more responsible to society. He advised everyone to be service-minded and spread the message of universal love and compassion in all the fields.
Dr. Prem Nair, while addressing the Alumni, expressed his happiness in seeing such a big turnout. He advised the Alumni to share their experiences with the new generations and help them to come up in their professions. The need for maintaining continuity of relationships with the Alma Mater was also emphasized by the Medical Director.
Dr. Col. Vishal Marwaha, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine, then addressed the gathering. He expressed his happiness to find Alumni in such a large number. He too advised the former students to continue to be in touch with their parent organization and carry the message of Amrita wherever they go. Dr. Col.Vishal Marwaha requested the Alumni to continue their relationship with parent organizations for their mutual benefit.
Dr. Anand Kumar, Vice Principal, HOD at Neurology Dept also spoke. He reiterated the importance of continuity of relations with the Alumni and Alma Mater. He expressed his happiness seeing such a large number of Alumni on the first meeting. Also, he recollected the efforts he took in building up a program of Allied Health Sciences.
Thereafter, Dr. Dinesh Nair, HOD, MHA, addressed the gathering. Dr. Nair was happy to find that many of the MHA graduates from Amrita are well placed outside and said that this will be an incentive for many more to join the stream. He advised the Alumni that they should carry the message of love and compassion to those who are suffering and thus spread the message of Amrita wherever they go.
Shri.V.G.Prasad, Senior Lecturer, proposed the vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to all the VIPs who attended the meeting in spite of their busy schedules and to the Alumni as well for taking time off their busy schedules to attend the Alumni meet in Amrita.
High tea followed. Afterwards, Dr. Mangala, (former MHA student, Amrita) at present Group Head in CIMAR, and Mrs. Indu, (former Physician Assistant, 2004 batch) at present Lecturer, Department of Nephrology, Amrita, shared their experiences with the gathering.
The alumni reassembled for an interactive session. This session was initially entertained by Sri Midhin, an MHA Alumni of the 2011 batch. His mimicry acts of many film personalities were well appreciated by the gathering. He also sang a few songs.
