Mr. Edwin Jegam, HR – Head Corporate Accounts TCS, presented the “TCS Best Student Project Award 2016” to Srivenkata Krishnan S., Sundarrajan G., Kiran Kassyap S. of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, for the project titled, “A Robust Approach for Improving the Accuracy of IMU based Indoor Mobile Robot Localization”, guided by Dr. Vidhya Balasubramanian, Associate Professor, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore on 30th September, 2016.
Dr. R Jayakumar, Professor at Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine, was selected for the MRSI Medal from Material Research Society of India for the year 2017, for his outstanding contribution to the field of Materials Science and Engineering.
IEEE PES and IAS joint student branch chapter of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, conducted an interesting and interactive session on timely research topics onOctober 6, 2016. The event concentrated on hybrid vehicles and ECIF on gadgets.
On 6th October, 2016, a workshop on Cloud Computing was held by Mr. Pratik Pai, Director, Product and Research, LogicHive Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Students from Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi won the championships of the inter-campus basketball tournament (both men and women) held at Amritapuri, Kollam from September 8th-10th, 2016. Ram Vibhakar of 4th year BDS was selected as the Best Player of the Tournament.
Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, hosted a student outreach program on behalf of Amrita Networking Club to make students aware of concepts of networking. Students and teachers from The Kendriya Vidyalaya, DRDO branch were invited to attend the event. A total of 42 students of PUC 2nd year and 4 teachers attended the event with great interest.
Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director, Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda at the Amrita School of Ayurveda, delivered a keynote address on the topic “Research Trends in Ayurveda: Scope and Challenges” on 29 July, 2016, at Rani Dullaiya Smriti Ayurvedic PG Chikitsalaya, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh during the National Seminar on “New Research Prospects in the Globalisation of Ayurveda”.
Digitization has invaded the business environment, provoking significant changes in the way marketing and sales occur. It has raised numerous opportunities and challenges, triggering the “digital transformation” of enterprises. Mr. Natarajan Radhakrishnan, former Senior Vice President & Offshore Head for Consulting, Capgemini intrigued students of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore on the topic, offering a glimpse of how digital transformation extended the reach of companies, enhanced the management decisions, and influenced the development of products and services.
Ahead of the placements this year, the Alma Connect Club and the Placement Committee (Placecom) of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore organized two Alumni Placement Boot Camps at the campus in the months of August and September.
An interesting and entertaining technical quiz titled, ‘Techathon’, was held on October 4, 2016, jointly by IEEE-WIE (student affinity group) and IEEE-PES and IAS student branch joint chapter of Amrita school of Engineering, Bengaluru.
