The teachers and students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Rural India Tablet Education (AmritaRITE) Program participated in rallies all over India to sensitize people and widen their horizon about the value of giving education to girls on April 23, 2017, which is celebrated as World Book Day. The major drive of the program is to promote education for girls and gender equality in rural and tribal villages of India.
An Amrita research initiative, Just-in-time Customisation: Research Platform for Accelerating Algorithms to Systems, has won the Early Career Research (ECR) Award of SERB, Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Agilent Technologies Inc. conducted a placement drive at Amrita School of Biotechnology, Amritapuri Campus on April 12, 2017. Mr. Shanbhag Shridhar Damodar and Ms. Anjali Premraj from M.Sc. Biotechnology were selected with a salary package of Rs. 9 Lakhs per annum.

On April 21, 2017, AmritaCREATE (Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham) was given the unique opportunity to conduct a live demonstration of MedSim in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. S. Ravindranath.
Amrita Wireless Center for Networks & Applications (AmritaWNA), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus (Kollam), organized a one day workshop on “Opportunistic Mobile Networks” on April 9, 2017. This workshop was organized for to PG students, research scholars and faculty members working in the areas of mobile computing, and Wireless Networks and Data Networking.

The first MedSim workshop in Karnataka was conducted at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Hassan, on April 18, 2017.
