AmritaCREATE, one of the research projects of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a one-day workshop on Online Labs, research project developed by AmritaCREATE and C-DAC, Mumbai, at Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Jammu, on July 12, 2017. Twenty-nine science teachers from twenty-seven schools participated in the workshop.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham faculty member, Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Director, Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda (ACARA), attended the Second International Conference on Integrative Medicine: Role of Yoga and Ayurveda on the theme “Role of Yoga and Ayurveda in Pain and Addiction Management”.
The Amrita School of Business (ASB), Coimbatore, conducted the first phase of the Alumni Boot Camp for the second year students, on August 12-13, 2017. Forty-eight alumni across various batches took part in the Boot Camp and gave their input to the second year students.

Dr. Maya Mahajan, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, initiated a new sustainable development project. She has been working with tribal communities of Singampathy, Sarkarporathy and Kalkotipathy to make furniture from the forest weed, Lantana and thereby helping them create a sustainable livelihood in the modern world.
Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, inaugurated the first year batches of B.Pharm, M.Pharm, Pharm D. & Pharm D. (PB), on 9th August, 2017. The programme started with a video show of “Embracing the world”. Dr. Sabitha M., Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, welcomed the gathering.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, celebrated Gokulashtami (Lord Krishna’s Birthday) on August 12, 2017, with great devotional fervor, enthusiasm and fanfare. The highlight of the colorful celebration was a procession in which students, staff and residents of the Amrita campus participate.
The significance of the Ramayana was emphasized in the celebrations held in the college auditorium of School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, on August 11, 2017.

The AmritaCREATE Team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is one of eight semifinalists advancing in the $7 million Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE presented by Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Adult Literacy XPRIZE is a global competition, challenging teams to develop a mobile application for existing smart devices that results in the greatest increase in literacy skills among participating adult learners.
