A team of six third-year students from the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, named ‘Cyber Sena’, won the top award at the Smart India Hackathon 2018, for developing a secure system for the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Sreeram Kongeseri, a PhD student, along with the researchers of AMMACHI Labs (Amrita Multi Modal Applications Using Computer & Human Interaction), developed a board game, ‘ Aadarsh Gaon’, that provides a way for players to build an ideal community through social problem-solving.

The 19-year-old patient from Jharkhand, leading an isolated life for the last ten years, underwent 14-hour surgery at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. Surgeons reconstructed his upper jaw using his leg bone. This is the largest ever reported upper jaw tumor of its kind. The hospital performed the surgery free of cost.
