The students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Amritapuri campus, representing Kollam district, excelled at the State Powerlifting Bench Press Championship held in Kozhikode. Amrita team secured 14 medals, which including 8 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.

The medal winners are:

• S. Sreelakshmi won two gold medals in the 76 kg classic and equipped categories
• In the 57 kg classic and equipped categories, Adithya Raj secured two gold medals.
• Two gold medals were won by Parvathi in the 84+ kg class and equipped categories.
• Flemilee Raj claimed the gold medal in the 52 kg equipped category and silver medal in classic category
• Kaustubh Sangram bagged the gold medal in the 83 kg equipped category
• In the 69 kg equipped and classic categories M. B. Kalyani secured one  silver medal and one bronze respectively.
• N. K. Arshida won a silver medal in the 63 kg equipped category
• Indraja Suresh secured a silver medal in the 84 kg equipped category
• Evan Binu bagged a bronze medal in the 93 kg equipped category.

Flemilee Raj, Sreelakshmi S., Adithya Raj, Parvathi P., and Kaustubh Sangram will represent Kerala at the National Championship, which will be held in Goa from October 14 to 18.The training provided by instructors Bijeesh C., Vivek Vavachen, Yaduraj, and Parvathi of the Department of Fitness & Strength Sports, played a major role in making these stupendous achievements by the Amrita athletes possible.
