Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Harvard School of Public Health (USA) jointly organized an Online Distinguished Lecture on the topic “Microcosm, Macrocosm: Health for All through Public Health, Social Justice and Integrative Practices” on April 11, 2022 from 7:00 pm IST to 8.00 pm IST.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Farah Shroff, Takemi Fellow (2021-2022) in International Health, Harvard School of Public Health, USA.
Summary
The event commenced with introductory remarks and welcome address by Dr. Teena Mary Joy, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, School of Medicine, Kochi. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Farah Shroff, Takemi Fellow (2021-2022) in International Health, Harvard School of Public Health. She spoke about Integrative Practices, Ottawa Charter, Yoga, Alternative Medicines, Social Justice, etc. Subsequently, there was an Interactive session with Amrita faculties and students, where they cleared all their queries with Dr. Farah. The event was concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Teena Mary Joy. The coordinator of this event is Ms. Radha Murali, Program Associate, Amrita Center for International Programs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
Approximately 55 participants including students and faculties from the School of Medicine, Nursing, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical, Computational Engineering and Networking, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, School of Pharmacy, CSE-AI, Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality, Community Medicine and Public Health, School of Business, Biomedical Engineering, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Amrita WNA, Amrita Darshanam-International Centre for Spiritual Studies, Amrita Mind Brain Center as well as various other disciplines from Amritapuri, Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Kochi & Coimbatore campuses attended the event.
