Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the CQUniversity (Australia) jointly organized an Online Distinguished Lecture on the topic “Women and girls with Rheumatic Heart Disease: a life-course approach” on December 10, 2022, Friday from 10 am to 11 am IST.

Summary
The event commenced with introductory remarks and welcome address by Dr. Manoj P., Chairperson, Department of Management, Program Manager, International Programs. This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Geraldine Vaughan, Lecturer, Public Health, Medical and Applied Sciences Appleton Institute, CQUniversity who discussed the following : Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF), Manifestations, High Risk Groups, Diagnosis of ARF, Testing and monitoring ARF in acute settings, Signs and Symptoms of RHD, Complications of RHD, RHD follow up & Management etc. She also spoke about Epidemiology & global context as well as RHD in pregnancy: care pathway algorithm. Subsequently, there was an Interactive session with Amrita faculties and students, where they cleared all their queries with Dr. Geraldine Vaughan. The Moderator for Q&A session is Dr. R. Krishna Kumar, Clinical Professor and Head, Pediatric Cardiology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. The event was concluded with a closing remarks by Dr. Sivakumar V., ACIP Research Coordinator, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. Approximately 55 participants including students and faculties from the School of Medicine, Nursing, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computational Engineering and Networking, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science and Nutrition, Community Medicine and Public Health, Amrita School of Business, Amrita Mind Brain Center as well as various other disciplines from Amritapuri, Bangalore, Kochi & Coimbatore campuses attended the event.
