Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus in association with the university’s patent office organized a Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on Saturday, 25 March 2023 in the forenoon session from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Amriteshwari Hall in the AMRITA Coimbatore campus. This workshop was conducted by Ms. Salma Jetha, Director of the Patent Office, and Ms. Jayashree Kumar, University Lawyer, Contracts & IPR of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. 400+ research scholars and faculty of AMRITA attended the workshop, which was organized by Dr. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman, IQAC of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Coimbatore campus. Ms. Jayashree Kumar gave an overview of Intellectual Property Rights (both Indian and international), Copyright, Trademarks, trade secrets, and NDA. Ms. Salma spoke in detail about the patenting process at the university with the various milestones and requirements for the same. Dr. Prashant R. Nair gave a presentation on the various activities and initiatives of the DST-Amrita Technology Enabling Center (TEC) toward technology enablement. He also highlighted some of the technologies commercialized and transferred by the center to various industries. This talk was followed by a question and answer session.
