These student projects from the Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru were shortlisted in the TI India Analog Design Contest 2011.

Organized by Texas Instruments, the annual contest draws participation from the best undergraduate engineering teams from across the country.

Some 150 shortlisted teams from about 40 engineering colleges will battle it out in the next phase of the contest.

Meanwhile, Texas Instruments offered to help set up an analog system design lab at the qualifying engineering colleges; Amrita was quick to accept the offer.

“We have signed an MoU to establish a teaching/research lab facility on campus,” stated Dr. Shikha Tripathi, Professor and Chairperson of the ECE Department at Bengaluru.

The lab will provide students the ability to perform analog system design experiments as part of the basic circuit design lab. Using the ASLKv2010 Starter Kit as well as other analog kits, students will be able to easily build advanced applications.

Signal generators and dual power supply will be included in the initial lab set-up. While Amrita will restructure the curriculum, both for graduates and undergraduates, so as to introduce projects that use the ASLKv2010, the company will provide the necessary initial training and learning material.

Amrita will also organize a faculty development program open to participation from faculty members of other colleges as well, for analog system design pedagogy.

As per the agreement, a steering committee will be set up to monitor the implementation of the MoU consisting of the Associate Dean, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru and Senior Vice President of Cranes Varsity.
