Amrita School of Pharmacy welcomed its new batch of Pharm. D. (Regular), Pharm. D. (PB) and M. Pharm. students on August 19, 2014. Bri. Karunamrita Chaithanya lighted the lamp and graced the occasion. Naveen Kumar Panicker, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, delivered the welcome address.
Dr. Shantikumar V. Nair, Dean of Research, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham inaugurated the new batch. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the quality of education provided by Amrita which is also endowed with a deep sense of values. The inaugural address was followed by the address of Dr. Sabitha M., Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy who introduced the school and institution and highlighted the importance of Amrita in the healthcare sector for the betterment of people.
The Role of Pharm. D in Healthcare team was highlighted by Dr. Vidya Menon, Clinical Assistant Professor, General Medicine, Medical Administration, AIMS, Kochi. Dr. Vidya Menon also focused on the various responsibilities taken up by the Pharm. D. professionals in healthcare sector.
Dr. Umadevi P., Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Amrita School of Pharmacy shared her experience and gave a talk on “Walk in the way of light.” She stressed the need to conduct more research activities and to gain knowledge from every corner of life.
Students, Ms. Giby Susan George, Pharm. D. PB Intern; Ms. Aathira Menon and Ms. Nafiya Muhammed Zackariah of Pharm. D. 2013 batch shared their experiences about the life at Amrita School of Pharmacy to the assembled students and parents. Ms. Roshni P. R., Sr. Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Amrita School of Pharmacy discussed the hostel rules and the significance of discipline in day-to-day activities, as well as giving the vote of thanks.
