The Department of English and Languages, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, organized a two-day National Seminar on ‘Singular Plural: Language and Culture in the Contemporary Context’ from October 26 – 27, 2017.
The seminar proved itself to be a fruitful venue for a deeper probe into the contemporary relevance of the interface of language and culture and the ways in which they impact the different transactions in life including ways of thought, life style, perceptions, forms of art and literature, everyday experience, and kinds of discourses. Dr. Chitra Panicker (Bangalore University), Prof. (Dr) Satheesh Poduval (English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad), Dr. P.P. Ajayakumar (Kerala University) and Dr. Muraleedharan Tharayil (Chetana College of Media and Performing Arts, Thrissur) were the resource persons at different plenary sessions. The seminar attracted many a faculty, research scholars and students from universities and colleges across the country who presented papers on various aspects of the topic. Dr. Sreenath Muraleedharan K. was the Coordinator of the seminar and Prof. C. S. Jayaraman was led of the organizing committee.
