National Science Day is celebrated each year in India on 28th February. It is celebrated in honour of the discovery of ‘The Raman Effect’ by Dr. C.V. Raman on 28th February 1928. The purpose behind celebrating National Science Day is to spread the message about the importance of science and technology in everyday life to the people. This year, the theme was “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The School of Physical Sciences, Amritapuri Campus organized a two-day program to celebrate Science Day 2024 under the title ZENITH’24 on 28-02-2024 and 28-02-2024. Dr. Dhruba J Biswas, Former Head, of the Laser and Plasma Technology Division, BARC, Mumbai was the chief guest of the program and he delivered a talk on “Glimpse of Lasers and their Impact on Humanity” on 28-2-2024. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr. Mahadevan Pillai, Dr. Jyothi S N, and Dr. Narayanankutty Karuppath, followed by prayer.
The lecture, titled “Glimpse of Lasers and their Impact on Humanity”, featured esteemed speaker Dr. Dhruba J Biswas, Former Head Laser and Plasma Technology Division, BARC, Mumbai. Through deep insights into the world of lasers and their transformative effects on humanity, Dr. Biswas captivated the audience. From groundbreaking research to practical applications, attendees were intrigued by the potential of laser technology to shape our future.
As part of science day, exhibitions based on themes and concepts, posters, science games, quiz competitions, and other activities were organized. Exhibitions were conducted by students of the school of physical sciences .
