“Language should not be viewed as a mere medium of communication; it is a way of expressing the self in its entirety,” remarked Prof. Krishne Gowda, renowned humorist. He was addressing the staff and students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration on November 16, 2015.
Prof. Gowda called on the students to learn to effectively articulate at least in their mother tongue. Stressing on the need for cultivating passion for one’s language, he said each language has a specific ability to express one’s experience. And hence we should develop the ability to use a language not just to inform but to share an experience. Groups of students and the staff rendered songs in praise of the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.
Ms. Prajitha a student of BCA Semester 1 and Mr. Ganesha K., Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, expressed their pride while sharing their views on Kannada. Director, Br. Sunil Dharmapal; Correspondent, Br. Venugopal; Principal, Prof. Vidya Pai C graced the occasion.
A competition on conversing in Kannada without the use of English words was conducted for the students and staff. The day was also observed as Ethnic Day.
