A two-day IT Fest amrIT 2010 concluded at the Mysore campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, with over a hundred students from various colleges in and around the city, participating in the fest events.
Organized by the students of BCA, MCA and MSc programs of the Department of Computer Science, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences in Mysore, the fest events focused on the technical, communication, management and marketing skills of students.
At the inaugural function, Dr. B. G. Sangameshwara, Principal, SJCE, suggested that students be encouraged and given the right orientation to take up projects that would prove useful in solving rural problems.
Prof. H. V. Nagaraj, Principal of Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, urged participants to make the best use of the opportunity. “Participate with a sportive spirit,” he told the visiting students, in his address.
The next two days saw a flurry of activity on campus as students competed in over ten events such as the IT Quiz, Best Manager, Voltaface, Marketing, Lan Gaming, Dumb Charades, C Debugging, Treasure Hunt and Web Designing.
Cash prizes were awarded to all winners.
The overall championship was claimed by the SBRR Mahajana College. Their students won the maximum number of prizes in the various events and took home with them the amrIT 2010 Trophy and a cash prize.
Dr. Rakesh, Principal, Amrita School of Engineering at Bengaluru, delivered the Valedictory Address. He emphasized the importance of being exposed to the technical advancements in this present era.
Ms. Radha Sudarshan, Head of the Department of Computer Science thanked students for their enthusiastic participation. Br. Sunil Dharmapal, Director of the Amrita campus and Br. Venugopal, Correspondent were also present.
