The Amrita School of Medicine was recently placed at 11th position in a ranking of over 300 medical colleges in India.
The nation-wide survey was conducted by Outlook India, one of the top-selling English newsmagazines in the country.
“The key to success is hard work,” stated Dr. Prathapan Nair, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine on this occasion.
“To become good doctors, there is no shortcut, and our Amrita students, both undergraduates and postgraduates are trained to work hard,” he added.
Since its inception in 2002, the Amrita School of Medicine has endeavoured to impart the best medical education rooted in human values.
Its efforts have brought numerous accolades and recognition.
The Outlook India ranking considered several parameters such as academic excellence, personality development and infrastructure. The ranking placed Amrita 10th in the country in terms of infrastructure. Considering personality development and academic excellence, Amrita was 9th.
For postgraduate selection and employment, Amrita placed 3rd in the country.
“One of the greatest strengths of our institution is that we have outstanding faculty,” proudly stated Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director. “Their excellent teaching and clinical abilities help students get established in their professional careers and also go beyond.”
“There has always been a challenge in terms of what is happening in medicine. The explosion of medical knowledge is so immense that it is very hard to keep up with the new knowledge.”
“At Amrita there is emphasis not only on the infrastructural aspects, but also on quality.”
Indeed there is. The students gain clinical exposure at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, a 1,450-bed, tertiary referral and teaching hospital located at the Health Sciences campus. The hospital enjoys accreditation by NABL, NABH, NAAC and ISO.
The Amrita School of Medicine is part of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, which offers over a hundred undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and fellowship programs in various subspecialties of medicine and other disciplines.
The institution strives to excel in every aspect of education under the direct guidance of its Chancellor Amma, whose vision has made every success possible.
