These were comments made by enthusiastic participants who attended meditation classes recently organized at the Health Sciences campus in Kochi.

The Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique is taught worldwide completely free of charge to anyone who wants to learn. Born out of Amma’s sankalpa, the meditation technique is a divine gift for all of humanity.

For twenty minutes of regular practice everyday, a simple combination of yoga, pranayama and dhyana leads to many benefits in the physical, mental and spiritual levels.

Earlier this year, a paper published in the international journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine highlighted the benefits of IAM.

The paper was titled Impact of Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique on Adrenaline and Cortisol Levels in Healthy Volunteers. “When practiced regularly, IAM lowers stress hormones,” the study stated.

At the Health Sciences campus, regular classes are now being conducted for staff, faculty and students so that all can benefit from making this meditation technique a part of their lives.

“Students are often under stress due to the heavy workloads resulting from the modern system of education,” commented Veena Vijayan, second semester student of Master of Health Applications at the Health Sciences campus.

“The simple meditation technique helps to relieve our stress,” she added.

Classes are conducted by trainers well versed with the technique and specially approved to teach by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. “The participants are taught how to remain relaxed,” shared one of the trainers, Sri. Ramesh Sadasiva. “As they learn and practice, we can visibly see their faces reflecting peace and joy.”

Many of the classes were conducted by Br. Shraddhamrita Chaitanya. “One gains spiritual energy through the technique. But unless practiced regularly, one may not get full benefits,” he stated.

He explained further.

“The five domains of self-awareness, self-regulation, self-motivation, social awareness and social skills basically relate to knowing your emotions, managing your emotions, motivating yourself, understanding other peoples’ emotions and managing their emotions. People who excel in these five domains find success in their lives. IAM helps improve our skills in all these five domains.”

“From now on, all new employees will receive training in the IAM technique,” stated a senior official from human resources department who is coordinating the program. “Regular refresher sessions will be organized for others who have already learned the technique.”
