A workshop on “Design of Experiments” was conducted by the Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, Amrita Health Sciences, Kochi, on December 15, 2018. The trainer of the workshop was Dr. Lalit Kumar, Assistant Professor Senior Scale, Department of Pharmaceutics, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Karnataka. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Sabitha M., Principal, Amrita School of Pharmacy. The Organizing Committee included Dr. Vidya Viswanad, Convenor and Co- convenors, Dr. Kaladhar, Mr. Shan M., Ms. Swati Gupta, Ms. Sreeja C. Nair, Ms. Anupriya and Ms. Saritha Surendran. The workshop mainly targeted the PG students of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmacy Practice, UG students, PhD scholars and the teaching faculty. The workshop started at 9.00 am with prayer and was hosted by Ms. Saranya, First year M. Pharm., Department of Pharmaceutics. Dr. Vidya Viswanad gave the introductory speech and Dr. Sabitha officially welcomed the guest and handed over the session.
The morning session included talk on “Principles of QbD and its Components, Basics of Design of Experiments and Screening Designs with Hands on Training of Factorial Design”. The afternoon session focused on detailed training on Design Expert Software. The training mainly covered Fractional Factorial, Full Factorial, Central Composit Design (CCD) and Box Behnken Design (BBD). The session provided practical experience on each design with examples.
The one day workshop came to an end at 4.30 pm and Ms. Krishnapriya M. of second year M. Pharm. Pharmaceutics gave feedback on the session. A vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Swati Gupta, Lecturer, Amrita School of Pharmacy. Dr. Sabitha, on behalf of Amrita School of Pharmacy, presented a memento to Dr. Lalit Kumar as a token of gratitude.
