Grant for Research on the Coimbatore District Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Scheme (CDSSYS)

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is pleased to announce the commencement of a pioneering research project titled “Analyzing the Coimbatore District Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Scheme: An Integrated Approach Using SPSS and Artificial Intelligence Prediction”, funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). This study, led by Dr. Ilango Karuppasamy, Associate Professor at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore and co-investigator Dr. M.S. Sivagama Sundari, Assistant Professor (Sr.Gr), Amrita School of Engineering, aims to evaluate the effectiveness and long-term potential of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) in Coimbatore District. This grant has been generously provided by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).

The Coimbatore District Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Scheme (CDSSYS), introduced under the Government of India’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, seeks to empower and financially secure the futures of girl children across India. With a focus on promoting education, health, and socio-economic independence, CDSSYS enables parents and guardians to invest in the future of their daughters through a savings scheme that offers high returns and tax benefits.

Study Objectives and Methodology

This research will use both traditional statistical analysis and cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) prediction models to assess the historical performance of CDSSYS and forecast its future trajectory. The study will evaluate key factors such as:

  • The number of beneficiaries, regional variations, and trends in contributions and withdrawals.
  • Socio-economic factors influencing participation and the success of the scheme.
  • The impact of the scheme on girl child education and overall empowerment.
  • The long-term sustainability of the scheme, with predictive insights into potential challenges.

A significant portion of the study will involve primary data collection through surveys and interviews with parents and guardians of girls under 10 years old, comparing those who have enrolled in the scheme with those who have not. This approach ensures a holistic understanding of the scheme’s impact and will guide policymakers and stakeholders toward optimizing its design and implementation.

Key Expected Outcomes

  • Awareness and Geographical Coverage: The study will highlight the widespread awareness of the CDSSYS and its extensive coverage across both urban and rural regions.
  • Increased Participation: The research will demonstrate how the scheme has successfully engaged families, increasing the number of participants and promoting financial inclusion.
  • Impact on Education: By examining the correlation between CDSSYS enrollment and improved educational outcomes, the study will underscore the importance of financial schemes in fostering girl child education.
  • Predictive Analysis for Sustainability: Using AI models, the research will forecast future participation rates and provide insights into the potential challenges that may arise, ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the scheme.

The use of AI-driven prediction models represents an innovative aspect of this study, enabling accurate forecasts based on historical trends and socio-economic data. By integrating AI with statistical tools like SPSS, the project will provide valuable insights for future policymaking and the development of similar initiatives.

Broader Impact

The findings of this study will contribute significantly to the ongoing efforts to enhance financial inclusion, particularly for girls in Coimbatore District. With a focus on girl child education, socio-economic empowerment, and the optimization of government schemes, this research will support efforts to create a more equitable and prosperous society.

We anticipate that the insights generated from this study will not only enhance our understanding of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’s impact in Coimbatore but will also inform the design and execution of similar schemes nationwide, ensuring that they continue to provide tangible benefits to young girls and their families.

The faculty at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham looks forward to the insights that this project will provide and its potential to shape the future of financial inclusion and girl child empowerment in India.
