The International Gita Chanting Event, initiated by Kurukshetra Development Board, on behalf of Haryana Govt., was conducted in a befitting manner at the Central Atrium of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on December 10th, 2016. The idea was to chant Gita across the globe at one moment in time for strength and peace. The selected 18 slokas were chanted exactly at IST 6.00 p.m., one sloka from each of the eighteen chapters of Gita.
The auspicious event commenced with Brahmacharini Karunamrita Chaitanya invoking Chancellor Amma’s blessing by offering prayer. Then, Sri. Ramesh Sadasiva, Assistant Manager, Cultural Affairs, in his short introductory speech, stressed the eternal nature of Mother Gita, which is beyond time and space, and explained the symbolic significance of chanting Gita globally. At exactly 6.00 p.m. he began leading the the chanting. Several staff and students from the hospital and various schools in the Health Sciences campus followed him by repeating the verses with devotion and enthusiasm.
Dr. Prathapan Nair, Principal, Amrita School of Medicine; Sri. M. V. G. Thampi, Chief Programme Coordinator, Allied Health Sciences; Brahmacharini Karunamrita Chaitanya and Brahmacharini Rahana not only offered their support in the smooth conduct of the programme but also graced the occasion with their presence.
