A colloquium on the topic ‘You: The Brand’ was held at Sri Krishna Hall of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, on November 17, 2018. The session was handled by Prof. M.K. Chandrasekar. He has 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and consumer research and has worked for leading brands like Castrol, BP, and Glaxo across different segments and geographies.
Prof. Chandrasekar started off by introducing the students to dreams and how to turn them into reality through efforts and actions. He elaborated his idea of marketing which consists of four important things: Idea, Perception, Attitude and Action.
He spoke about being a slave of brands and a commodity visually. He said, “The shift in a student’s personality happens from commodity to a brand and finally to a branded commodity.” He explained his mantra- ‘Crossover’ between job and learning. He emphasized how to be ourselves and learn to say ‘NO’ and try to question why should one do something and what one learns from it.
Prof. Chandrasekar enlightened the students on why they should try to do the job that serves a purpose rather than the package it offers. He explained the importance of having a resume and a professional LinkedIn account and the need to keep updating them.
