Center for Cyber Security Systems and Networks Team Participates in Fifth Elephant Conference 2014

Jinesh and Devan from IoT & Bigdata Research Labs of Amrita Centre for Cyber Security Systems and Networks attended the Fifth Elephant Conference held at Bangalore from July 23-26, 2014.

The Fifth Elephant is India’s largest gathering of big data and analytics practitioners powered by ‘has geek’ group. This year’s conference had two days of hands-on workshops and an interactive conference on analytics. The conference mainly talked about the challenges and solution for bigdata analytics. All the sessions were run by experts from big data world. The various sessions covered included Scaling Real Time Visualizations for Elections 2014, How to Build a Data Stack from Scratch, etc.  A key talk about Personalized Medicine and Big Data by Anu Acharya, CEO,  Mapmygenome India Limited was an eye opener for the audience. According to him, “We can even predict the newborn baby’s nature and behavior by taking the “genome” from saliva. But it needs 3 GB for storing one person “genome” and one day for processing. In future, we think that it will be optimized like a smart tool in bigdata.” Anand from Gramener demonstrated how to handle bigdata without using big infrastructure. Vinayak Hegde from Helpshif talked about the things to consider when building a data stack from scratch.

“We were short listed to present a poster in the conference that detailed a new concept that we developed in-house,’Real Time Secure Sensor Data Processing using MQTT and Apache Spark. It attracted a lot of attention as it showcased how to establish secure connection between an IoT Middleware and the Bigdata framework,” shared the duo.
