The students of Department of Visual Communication, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus, observed World Heart Day on October 9, 2017, with the motive of promoting the theme “Share the Power”, synonymous with the theme of World Heart Federation. Various fun deeds and contests related to heart care and its protection were conducted by the student organizers.

The event had a remarkable beginning with a human chain in the shape of a heart formed by student volunteers followed by an energetic flash mob to attract the crowd. The students and staff in the dress code of red and white added complementary ambiance to the venue spotted with red and white balloons, banners, placards and posters.

The games and tasks devised for staff and students on heart health awareness were well received. The program ended with a quiz on heart health and a session on sharing a good health tip to keep the heart safe. A free Blood Pressure (BP) check-up was arranged as part of the program. The event created a lasting impact on the students and the buzz of the event continued for many days among everyone especially on social media.
