The Biophotonics group at Amrita Center for Nanosciences & Molecular Medicine was among the top three teams selected out of 54 teams which contested in the national level medical research product presentation event organised by Sri Ramachandra Innovation Incubation Center (SRIIC) Medtech Hackathon’ 22. Mr. Manu Krishnan K, Senior Research Fellow at ACNSMM received the award from Dr. Manoj Murhekar, Head-NIE, Indian Council of Medical Research, on behalf of the entire team which consisted of Dr. Shantikumar V Nair, Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. Manzoor Koyakutty, Professor at ACNSMM and Dr. Girish C M, former INSPIRE faculty at ACNSMM. “Clinicians in the medical colleges have tremendous scope for innovative research leading to valuable commercial patents” said Dr. Manoj Murhekar, while speaking after distributing prizes and certificates to award-winning research presentations by students, researchers, and faculty.

Who evaluated the award?
The 4 preliminary stages of the competition were judged by 6 scientists, where they selected 7 finalists from 54. The final round was judged by a new panel including 5 new members. So the results were after the combined evaluation of 11 external judges.
Who pitched at the event for this ACNSMM product?
Manu Krishnan K, Senior Research Fellow, represented the Biophotonics team of ACNSMM in the competition. The entire team includes Dr.Girish C M, Dr. Manzoor Koyakutty and Dr.Shantikumar V Nair.
When and where was the event and when was the prize distribution?
The competition was held online over many rounds from Feb 16- Feb 25. The Prize distribution was conducted on March 5th, at Sree Ramachandra Medical college campus, Chennai.
