The mathematics association of Amritapuri Campus, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, named “Bijamati” which means, the Mind Capable of Analysis, was inaugurated on February 15, 2019 in Amriteswari hall by the chief guest Dr. Vishnu Namboothiri K., Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Government College, Ambalapuzha.
The inaugural ceremony started with lighting the lamp and prayer. Dr. Usha kumari P. V., Chairperson, Department of Mathematics, School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri campus, delivered the formal welcome address. The chief guest then formally inaugurated the activities of the association and revealed the logo of Bijamati. The main aim of this mathematics association is to promote and popularise the subject and to connect it with everyday life focusing on Applied Mathematics to decrease the difficulty level and to enhance the beauty of pure mathematics.
The felicitation was given by Dr. V. M. Nandakumaran, Principal, School of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jyothi S. N., Principal, School of Engineering; Dr. K. B. M. Namboothiripad, Former Dean, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus and Dr. Ganesh Sundaram, Chairperson, Department of Physics, School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri campus.
The chief guest, Dr. Vishnu Namboothiri K., delivered a technical talk on the topic “Integer Partitions”. He described and explained the partition of a natural number and general equations to get the partitions. The lecture was highly appreciated by the students and faculty members. The association secretary, Mr. Sharan, S6 Integrated M. Sc. student, proposed the vote of thanks.
