The six-member student team from Amrita School of Engineering Chennai Campus has won FIRST prize in AWS Graviton Hackathon. It’s an international hackathon organized by AWS with 1276 participants around the world which includes students and working professionals.
The two-month long event started on 24th August 2021 and ended by 13th Oct, 2021). It accepted submissions on two major tracks: New App and Migration, of which the ASE Chennai students won the 1st prize in the migration track. They are awarded with a prize money of $5000 and a fully funded trip for one person in team to Las Vegas to attend re:invent 2021. The judging criteria was based on Quality of the Idea (creativity, originality, and code quality), Potential Value of the proposed solution based on how widely useful it is for your organization & the Graviton ecosystem, and Implementation. The students submitted a project named ‘Genie’: A lightweight extension powered by a deep learning model for identifying the forged/tampered images from any web sources like social media feed, public websites etc. with two clicks.
The students shared their overwhelming joy with the Campus Director and Principal. The College management including the Principal and the Director congratulated the students for their remarkable achievement.
