Amrita’s in-house academic ERP system, AUMS, was featured at a one-day interactive workshop on Effective Usage of Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) in Educational Institutions in Coimbatore on August 7, 2010.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the workshop attracted over a hundred delegates, including Principals and representatives of various universities, colleges and schools.
AUMS or the Amrita University Management System was showcased in the session on Campus Management Systems – Advantages of User Perspective by Mr. Raghu Raman, CEO, Amrita Technologies.
Developed by Amrita Technologies, AUMS is still being implemented in Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s 5 campuses and 14 schools.
“In his talk, Mr. Raghu presented the complexity of the task of implementing AUMS in a multi-disciplinary, multi-campus institution such as ours, that offers nearly 150 programs,” stated Mr. Prashant Nair of Amrita who help facilitate the event as a member of the ICT panel.
“Mr. Raghu also touched upon the integration of AUMS with the Amrita Hospital Information System (HIS),” he added. “He spoke about the offering’s successfully deployment in government medical colleges and hospitals in Maharashtra and other places in India.”
Other prominent speakers at the workshop included Dr. K. Karunakaran, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore; Mr. R. Venugopal, GM, Robert Bosch; Mr. K. S. Karthik, CEO, 24X7 Learning and Dr. G. Srinivasan of IIT Madras.
The workshop addressed topics related to learning management systems, new delivery mechanisms and creation of digital content.
