Amrita Values Programme (AVP) is designed to provide education for life, as envisaged by Chancellor Amma. The programme, which aims at inculcating life values in students, is now part of the university curriculum.
The School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, has begun the program from the current academic year offering training in Organic Farming and Sustainability, Yoga and Meditation, Kerala Mural Art and Painting, Lessons from Ramayana and Indian Medicinal System. The opening sessions of AVP were led by Dr. Ravindranatha Kamath, HOD, Dept. of Integrated Medicine, AIMS. He elicited upon the need to increase the awareness of Indian medicinal systems.
The inaugural session on Organic Farming and Sustainability was conducted at CMFRI (Under Ministry of Agriculture). Dr. Shinoj Subramannian, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) handled the class. These classes will also involve lectures by invited eminent professionals and academicians.
