Amritakalotsavam is an annual art fest conducted by the Amritapuri Campus, featuring several art competitions for students from various schools including Engineering and Arts & Sciences. Amritakalotsavam gave the students a platform for improving their capabilities to work as a team and raising their level of self-confidence in interacting with fellow students and peers. Amritakalotsavam 2015 was inaugurated on 12th March 2015 at 4:30 pm. Over the following two days many young energetic talents took the stage and delivered a host of performances.
Amritakalostavam included a number of cultural events like Classical Dance (solo), Classical Dance (group), Synchro, Nostalgia, Thiruvathirakkali, Jugalbandhi, Semi-classical (solo), Oppana, Semi-classical (group),Mimicry, Monoact, Kathaprasangam, Movie Spoof, Karoke, Classical Music, Folk song, Patriotic song, Fancy Dress, Classical Music, Kathakali Sangeetham, Fancy Dress, Ashtapathi, Tableau, Mime, Light Music, Western (solo), western (group), Instrument Percussion, Instrument String, Mappilapattu, Drama, Shakesperean Monologue, Elocution English, Elocution Malayalam, Recitation English, Recitation Malayalam, Debate (English) and Debate (Malayalam).In order to instill the true spirit of competition, the cultural committee of the college, comprised by staff and student representatives, grouped the students of various branches and batches into 4 different teams “Amritamayi”, “Chinmayi”, Jyothirmayi”, “Anandhamayi”. All the competitions were conducted separately for boys and girls. Renowned artists from respective areas were also invited to judge the fest. Winners of the competitions were awarded certificates and trophies and the ever-rolling trophy also was awarded for the champion team.
“We adopted a grading method of A,B and C for performance evaluation in the events under the categories of Sapthswaram, Nrithyanjali, Karma, Rachna, Varnam and Agni. The four house captains were selected from the student representatives of each class and an overall coordinator headed the student committee. The Kalotsavam started with a ‘Kodiyettam’ function on the first day followed by a formal inauguration function,” explained Dr. Smitha Chandran , Amritakalotsavam 2015 Organizing Committee Member and Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri Campus.House of Anandamayi won the event defeating Jyothirmayi, Amritamayi and Chinmayi with a score of 2,655 points. Team Anandamayi was led by House Captain Adarsh Soman, third-year student of BTech Computer Science and Engineering. “We are extremely happy to be this year’s winners. The students embraced the team spirit. The unity of our house contributed immensely to the final output. We owe our great success to every single member who contributed in the best possible way,” shared House Captain of Anandamayi, Adarsh Soman.
